Nagaland’s E-Governance Triumph: Kohima HC Overcomes Challenges Amid NMC and NSCW Stalemate | MorungExpress
The Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench (GHCKB) and the Nagaland Information Commission (NIC) continue to set standards among websites of judicial, statutory, and regulatory bodies in Nagaland, despite some challenges. GHCKB’s site, lauded for its transparency, provides access to resources, notifications, and updates, and recently launched a WhatsApp channel for live streaming court proceedings. However, its ‘Case Status’ section has seen occasional delays, and the RTI Manual remains outdated.
The NIC website, established under the RTI Act, showcases strong data management and regular updates, featuring the latest Annual Administrative Reports and recent RTI Manual, despite lacking recruitment notifications.
The Nagaland Lokayukta website has improved its design and content, introducing new sections for complaints and FAQs. Yet, it lacks archives for finalized cases and updates in the Annual Report section.
While the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) websites exhibit basic functionality, they suffer from outdated data and incomplete disclosures. The NPCB lacks action plans and the NSDMA’s RTI section is missing, while SCPD’s media links are either incorrect or inactive.
In contrast, the Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) and Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) have shown no updates since mid-2023, illustrating significant digital stagnation and undermining the potential of effective e-governance.
In summary, while some websites have progressed, there remains a pressing need for many others to enhance data quality, streamline updates, and improve transparency to meet best e-governance practices in Nagaland.
