Thrilling Paragliding Championship Unites Passionate Pilots from South Korea, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia!
Mizoram has taken a significant step to boost adventure tourism by hosting one of its largest paragliding events in the Serchhip district. This thrilling event, a four-day international paragliding accuracy championship and airsports festival, was inaugurated by Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L. Khuma on December 10. Khuma, who also chairs the International Paragliding World Championship Organizing Committee, emphasized the potential of such events to enhance Mizoram’s tourism appeal.
The championship features 30 competitive pilots, with a strong representation from India, including 8 participants from Mizoram itself. The international presence is robust, with competitors hailing from South Korea, Nepal, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia, emphasizing the global nature of the event. Such diverse participation underscores the growing prominence of Mizoram as a hub for adventure sports.
The event is slated to conclude with a closing ceremony at the Zawlpui landing site, where Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma will honor the proceedings as the chief guest. This festival not only highlights the thrilling sport of paragliding but also showcases Mizoram’s commitment to nurturing tourism and international sports cultures.
