Urgent Call for Justice: 149 Displaced Bhusuk Families in Sikkim Demand Fair Land Compensation Resolution
In a long-awaited development, 149 families from Bhusuk, Sikkim, displaced due to the Army’s land acquisition during 1978-79, have renewed hope for resolution. These families recently met with the Secretary of the Land Revenue Department on December 9, advocating for compensation owed for decades. Accompanying them was Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, the MLA of the 23 Syari Constituency, who pushed for swift action on their longstanding grievances.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has thrown his full support behind the displaced families, compelling relevant departments to expedite the resolution process. His intervention is seen as a beacon of hope for families who have been in limbo, anxious for stability and justice since they were uprooted from their homes.
Acknowledging the Chief Minister’s proactive involvement, the families expressed gratitude for his efforts to untangle the bureaucratic gridlock that has delayed their compensation. “This is a step forward in ensuring justice for the displaced families. The Chief Minister’s guidance and the efforts of the Land Revenue Department will pave the way for a fair resolution,” remarked MLA Tenzing Norbu Lamtha.
The families’ meeting with the Land Revenue Department signifies a pivotal moment in their struggle for justice, highlighting the importance of empathy and government accountability in addressing historical grievances. With renewed government attention, there is cautious optimism that closure and compensation are on the horizon, bringing long-overdue relief to those affected by the land acquisition. As the departments move toward tangible solutions, the commitment to rectify this decades-old issue represents a crucial stride in upholding justice and fairness for Sikkim’s displaced citizens.
