Breaking News: Major Gujarat Shakeup as 24 Senior Police Officers Transferred – Unveiling New Leadership!
In a significant overhaul, Gujarat saw the transfer of 24 senior police officers across the state on Monday. A key highlight was the transfer of prominent IPS officer S Pandia Rajkumar, widely known as Rajkumar Pandian. Previously serving as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for CID (Crime and Railways), Pandian has now taken on the role of ADGP (Law and Order). This transfer follows protests led by Congress’s state working president, Jignesh Mevani, who accused Pandian of misconduct during his tenure as ADGP (SC/ST Cell, Human Rights & Social Justice). He replaces DGP Shamsher Singh, who retains his role at the Anti Corruption Bureau.
In other notable shifts, Ajay Kumar Choudhary, formerly the Special Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) in Ahmedabad, has been reassigned as the ADGP (Women Cell) in Gandhinagar. Vidhi Choudhary, previously awaiting posting, steps into Ajay Kumar’s role and will also manage administrative duties in Ahmedabad. In Vadodara, M L Ninama transitions from Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) to Inspector General of Police for the State Traffic Branch in Gandhinagar.
Additional changes include Shesma Shripal, previously Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) in Ahmedabad, now awaiting a new posting. Leena Patil moves from Additional Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) to managing Crime and Law and Order. Jaipalsingh Rathore, formerly Deputy Inspector General of Police in Rajkot Rural, is now the Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector 2, in Ahmedabad.
Further appointments include Sudhir Desai as Superintendent of Police, Intelligence, Gandhinagar, and Balram Meena as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-1, Ahmedabad City. Usha Rada becomes Superintendent, Prison, Vadodara, while Ravindra Patel is the new Executive Director of the Gujarat State Police Housing Corporation. Vikas Sunda takes on the role of Superintendent of Police, Kutch-Bhuj (West).
