Skill India Digital Hub Hits Milestone with Over 1 Crore Registrations
New Delhi, December 9 (IANS): The Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) has marked a significant achievement by surpassing 1 crore registrations, as per recent data from the National Skills Development Mission of India. Launched in September 2023, SIDH is designed to enhance India’s skill development landscape by offering a comprehensive digital platform bridging education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
This platform emerges as a crucial digital extension by integrating Skill India and Digital India initiatives, providing industry-relevant courses, job opportunities, and entrepreneurship support. In addition to the massive registration milestone, 12 lakh mobile applications have been downloaded since its inception. SIDH collaborates with 45 content partners and offers around 1,200 Academy courses, over 1,000 self-paced courses, and more than 2,700 National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) courses.
To date, the platform has facilitated 1 crore minutes of digital learning and completed 3 crore minutes of e-learning, creating a total of 12 lakh opportunities. Moreover, SIDH has enrolled nearly 5,000 senior learners (aged above 50) from 505 districts in courses focusing on machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data.
The Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, revealed that as of June, the platform registered approximately 88 lakh candidates with 9.59 lakh mobile apps downloaded. About 7.63 lakh learners are currently enrolled in various online courses on SIDH.
The platform not only offers educational courses but also apprenticeship opportunities, aiming to integrate with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and facilitate access to entrepreneurship schemes for learners and job seekers. This digital initiative not only underscores India’s commitment to skilling its populace but also enhances its digital and economic landscape, setting a new benchmark for future skill development endeavors.
