Urgent Outcry: BJP Amplifies Protests as Corruption in AAP Govt Deepens Crisis in Delhi Slums
The BJP’s Delhi unit intensified its criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government by staging protests across the city on Sunday. The demonstrations, which took place in 968 slum clusters, aimed to spotlight local infrastructure issues such as inadequate roads, sanitation, and drinking water facilities. South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri criticized the AAP government for failing to provide basic amenities, declaring that the BJP would prioritize the needs of slum residents if elected.
With the Delhi Assembly elections anticipated in February next year, the BJP is strategically focusing on unauthorized colonies and slums, traditionally considered AAP strongholds. In a continued effort to connect with this demographic, BJP MPs and senior leaders have been engaging directly with community members. Previously, they spent nights in unauthorized colonies, and on December 15, they plan to stay overnight in slum clusters to discuss residents’ issues.
Prominent BJP leaders participated in Sunday’s protests, with Northwest Delhi MP Yogender Chandoliya demonstrating in Bawana’s JJ Colony and West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat in Goyla Dairy slum, where she accused the AAP government of neglecting slum-dwellers’ needs. Other participants included MPs Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, and MLAs Abhay Verma, O.P. Sharma, and Jitendra Mahajan. Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay also joined the protests across various Assembly constituencies.
This targeted campaign by the BJP highlights their commitment to addressing the concerns of slum residents and seeks to challenge the AAP’s influence in these key areas as the elections draw near.
