This shift is fueled by the growing impact of pan-Indian films, which are being marketed extensively both domestically and globally. While “Baahubali 2” once appeared as an outlier, now similar blockbuster successes are commonplace, as several Indian films have achieved notable 100-crore pre-sale milestones.
Originally, “Baahubali 2” set the benchmark as the first Indian film to surpass 100 crore in day 1 advance bookings, not counting reserved seats. Today, six Indian films have accomplished this remarkable feat. After “Baahubali 2,” films like “RRR,” “KGF Chapter 2,” “Leo,” and “Kalki 2898 AD” have achieved this landmark, and now, “Pushpa 2” has joined their ranks.
“Pushpa 2” has garnered over 100 crore gross in worldwide advance bookings, marking it as the sixth Indian film to achieve this milestone. In India alone, ticket sales hit 73 crore gross, excluding reserved seats, while the international market saw pre-sales exceeding 35 crore gross on the opening day. By 6:30 pm IST, the film’s total pre-sales had reached 108 crore gross. Including reserved seats, the figure climbs to an incredible 125 crore gross.
