Unstoppable Momentum: How Geopolitical, Technological, and Leadership Forces Propel India Forward Under PM Modi’s Visionary Leadership
New Delhi, December 4 (IANS): Celebrating India’s robust economic growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Oxford University’s Professor Soumitra Dutta hailed India’s unique positioning in its pursuit to become a developed nation by 2047, marking a century of independence. Dutta, Dean of Oxford University’s Said Business School, emphasized that geopolitical, technological, and leadership factors favor India’s development trajectory.
Dutta, who has closely studied global technology and innovation, co-authored a recent study titled ‘From Gridlock to Growth’ which explores India’s transformation in infrastructure and social sectors under PM Modi. Central to this progress is the PRAGATI initiative, launched in 2015 to facilitate Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. PRAGATI has successfully fostered a culture of accountability and efficiency, addressing bureaucratic hurdles and promoting a collaborative ‘Team India’ mindset.
The platform’s impact is evident in India’s aim to reach a $30 trillion economy by 2047, along with achieving universal literacy and healthcare coverage. Dutta highlighted the global significance of India’s growth, particularly for regions in the Global South, where similar infrastructure and systemic changes are needed. India’s transformation offers valuable lessons for these areas to execute projects more effectively and efficiently.
A notable example is the completion of the Bogibeel bridge in Assam, which overcame years of stagnation due to Modi’s involvement through PRAGATI, thereby revitalizing the region’s development. Dutta asserted that Modi’s consistent commitment to unblocking large-scale projects is exceptional and has cultivated a widespread culture of progress.
This approach was inspired by Modi’s earlier system, SWAGAT, initiated during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, reflecting the enduring influence of his hands-on governance style in driving India’s advancement.
