Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has emphasized the crucial role played by the Border Security Force (BSF) in maintaining national security and ensuring the safety and peace of local populations. Acknowledging the relentless efforts of the BSF in protecting state borders, CM Saha delivered his remarks during the 60th Raising Day celebration at the BSF headquarters in Shalbagan.
In his address, Saha praised the BSF as the frontline defenders since their inception in 1965, noting the peace enjoyed by citizens because of their vigilant presence. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s commitment to prioritizing border security and the introduction of new technologies aimed at bolstering national defenses. Additional measures mentioned include the enhancement of border fencing and welfare improvements for BSF personnel, reaffirming the government’s commitment to both national and BSF security.
As Tripura’s Home Minister, Saha also underscored the necessity of countering emerging technological threats from terrorist groups. He advocated for a more efficient and effective response to these challenges, emphasizing that the use of advanced technology by adversaries requires a robust defensive strategy.
Reflecting on his participation in the BSF’s Raising Day event, Saha expressed personal pride, considering each visit akin to returning home. He honored BSF personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. CM Saha noted their ongoing efforts to fight smuggling, infiltration, and illegal migration.
Tripura, bordered by Bangladesh on three sides with an 856 km international boundary, relies heavily on the BSF for security. The force not only maintains surveillance and fencing but also fosters positive relations with local communities. The chief minister concluded by saluting the BSF’s dedication to safeguarding the region and supporting national interests.
