Defending Our Heritage: Unleashing the Power of Cherishing Intrinsic Cultural Diversity
Indigenous Faith Day was celebrated across Arunachal Pradesh, with tribal communities reaffirming their dedication to preserving their cultural and spiritual heritage. The celebrations, organized by the Indigenous Faith & Culture Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP), included vibrant processions, community prayers, and cultural programs at Rono Ground, Doimukh.
The event was attended by Home and Indigenous Affairs Minister Mama Natung, who addressed the significance of protecting Arunachal’s diverse traditions. Coinciding with the birth anniversary of Talon Rukbo, the founder of the Indigenous Faith Movement in the state, the minister remarked on the importance of maintaining cultural identity amid learning other languages. He also emphasized the need for inter-community cultural exchanges to foster mutual understanding and respect.
Celebrated annually on December 1, Indigenous Faith Day highlights the spiritual and cultural practices of Arunachal Pradesh’s tribal communities, many followers of the ‘Donyi Polo’ faith, which worships the Sun and Moon. In the face of modernization, this day serves as a crucial reminder of the state’s cultural roots and celebrates its unique heritage.
