Barry Keoghan to Mesmerize Audiences in Beatles Biopic: Ringo Starr’s Enthralling Revelation
Barry Keoghan is reportedly set to portray Ringo Starr on the big screen, as confirmed by the legendary drummer himself. In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, Ringo, now 84, expressed his approval of the Oscar-nominated Keoghan, known for standout roles in “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Saltburn”, taking on the role of the iconic Beatles drummer. With humor, Starr noted, “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
The films, helmed by acclaimed director Sam Mendes—famous for “American Beauty” and “1917”—aim to offer a unique cinematic experience by depicting each Beatles member’s perspective in four separate movies. “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes revealed. The project has secured life and music rights from the surviving Beatles members and the estates of their deceased bandmates, yet producer Pippa Harrison emphasizes there’s “nothing off limits and no sense of the band wanting him to tell a particular ‘authorized’ version of their rise to success.”
Barry Keoghan’s performance in “The Banshees of Inisherin” earned him an Oscar nomination, and he recently appeared in Emerald Fennell’s controversial thriller “Saltburn”. He continues to make waves starring in Andrea Arnold’s “Bird” and is set for roles in the psychological thriller “Hurry Up Tomorrow” alongside The Weeknd, and the eagerly awaited “Peaky Blinders” movie.
Though casting for the Beatles films remains unconfirmed, other names have surfaced. Paul Mescal, star of “Gladiator II”, is rumored to play Paul McCartney, although he told GQ, “there’s nothing set in stone.” Meanwhile, “Triangle of Sadness” actor Harris Dickinson remains tight-lipped about potentially playing John Lennon, stating, “It might not be true, it might be, I don’t know … there’s a speculation culture.” The anticipated films are slated for release in 2027.
