Sikkim Riders Excel at National Rally Sprint Championship
Gangtok, Nov 26, 2024: Sikkim’s motorsport enthusiasts have made their mark at the Indian National Rally Sprint Championship held in Guwahati. Three skilled riders from Gangtok showcased their talent during the event on Sunday.
Samrat Shamsher Basnett, hailing from Daragaon, Tadong, competed in the national pro category, securing an impressive 4th place finish. Meanwhile, Swaraj Pradhan and Ujjwal Sharma from Reshithang took part in the national support rally, achieving commendable 3rd and 6th placements, respectively.
The success of the trio is a promising development for the motorsport scene in Sikkim. They are not only celebrating their own achievements but are also advocating for greater recognition and support for the sport in their home state. In an effort to nurture local talent, these riders are calling on the government to establish a motorsports association in Sikkim, aiming to develop the region as a potential hub for the sport.
