Breaking News: Empowering Progress – Second Round of Tiprasa Accord Talks Confirmed for Dec 3 by Pradyot Debbarma
Agartala, Nov. 25: The Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) leader, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, has announced the second round of negotiations on the Tiprasa Accord, scheduled for December 3 in New Delhi. This follows an initial meeting held just a month and a half ago, reflecting a quick succession of talks. Debbarma shared this development on social media, expressing satisfaction with the progress and reiterating the non-negotiable nature of the Tiprasa community’s future.
Debbarma emphasized his unwavering commitment to prioritizing the interests of indigenous groups over political favors. He stressed the necessity for regional and community growth, arguing that these should take precedence over individual political rehabilitations.
To facilitate focused discussions, the central government has established a six-member committee dedicated to addressing indigenous concerns. Chaired by A.K. Mishra, the Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the Northeast, the committee includes Pradyot Debbarma, TIPRA President B.K. Hrangkhawl, and key officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Tripura’s government departments.
This dialogue follows a tripartite agreement among Tipra Motha, the Indian government, and the Tripura state administration, signed in March 2024 to tackle longstanding indigenous issues in the region. The agreement was formalized with the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
As the talks advance, TIPRA underscores that the focus on community welfare and regional development remains paramount in the ongoing negotiations.
