Massive Elephant Herd Invades Tezpur Tea Estate, Igniting Fear and Awe Among Locals
Residents of Tezpur are increasingly concerned as a large herd of wild elephants, including calves, has ventured into areas like Rangapara. The elephants are believed to have strayed from the Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary in search of food, causing unease among locals. In particular, their presence has been noted in the Adabari Tea Estate, where they roam freely during the day, worrying plantation workers. Their movement near roads and gardens has left the community anxious.
Wildlife officials and local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent potential human-wildlife conflicts. Measures are being implemented to manage the herd and ensure the safety of both residents and the elephants.
In related news, Assam’s Bhumidhar Barman has been appointed as Chief de Mission for the Indian team at the 4th Asian Roll Ball Championship.
