Shocking Scandal: CID Dy. SP Booked Under Corruption Act Following Businesswoman’s Tragic Death in Bengaluru
A 35-year-old businesswoman, Jeeva S., died by suicide after reportedly facing harassment from CID officials, prompting Banashankari police to file an FIR against Deputy Superintendent of Police Kanakalakshmi. The officer is charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and for abetment to suicide. Jeeva’s sister, Sangeetha S., lodged a complaint alleging that the officer compelled Jeeva to appear in person regarding a Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation scam, contravening a court order for a virtual probe. The complaint also accused Kanakalakshmi of forcing Jeeva to disrobe under false pretenses, demanding a ₹25 lakh bribe, and publicly humiliating her at her shop, which purportedly drove Jeeva to take her own life.
The ongoing CID investigation pertains to a scam involving the misappropriation of crores of rupees, where 500 homemakers were allegedly deceived with promises of loans. Unscrupulously, a list of fake beneficiaries was created, signatures obtained, and ₹5 lakh transferred to each account, with rightful beneficiaries receiving only ₹25,000. This case highlights a troubling pattern, as other officers have recently been accused of misconduct, including demands for bribes and inappropriate favors in separate incidents, triggering investigations following a State Human Rights Commission notice.
