Exposing Congress’s Appeasement: How Waqf Board Laws Spark Outrage
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a celebration of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s decisive victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, criticized the Congress party for its alleged “appeasement politics.” He accused Congress of enacting laws that favor specific communities, citing the Waqf Board law as an example, which he argued has no constitutional mandate. Modi claimed that the Congress, before leaving the government in 2014, transferred numerous properties in Delhi and nearby areas to the Waqf Board to secure vote banks, a move he contends was against constitutional principles set by Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The Prime Minister highlighted the BJP’s significant electoral win in Maharashtra, emphasizing it as an endorsement of the party’s governance model. He pointed out that the BJP’s performance surpasses that of Congress and its allies combined, asserting that the nation places trust in the BJP and the NDA for effective governance.
Further, PM Modi attacked the Congress for allegedly aligning with “urban Naxalism,” describing it as a new challenge controlled by external forces, thus urging caution. He criticized Congress as having become a “parasitic party,” one struggling to come to power independently and pulling down its allies with it, evidenced by the electoral outcome in Maharashtra.
The victory in Maharashtra, according to Modi, signals the triumph of development, good governance, and genuine social justice while defeating deceptive and divisive politics. The Prime Minister congratulated BJP and NDA workers nationwide on this success, portraying it as a step toward a developed India.
Meanwhile, the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, which proposes significant reforms in digitization, audits, and legal processes for reclaiming occupied properties, is slated for deliberation in Parliament’s winter session beginning December 25. The bill is under scrutiny by a joint parliamentary committee aiming for comprehensive reform.
