Exciting Launch: Arunachal CM Unveils State-of-the-Art Todak Basar District Hospital, Transforming Healthcare in Basar
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, along with his council of ministers and MLAs, inaugurated the Todak Basar District Hospital in Basar town, marking a milestone in advancing healthcare infrastructure in the region. The hospital, a tribute to the late Todak Basar, a former Rajya Sabha MP and minister in Arunachal Pradesh, stands as a testament to his enduring contributions to the state’s welfare.
During the inauguration, CM Khandu toured the facility, interacted with patients, and distributed food, fruits, and essential items, wishing them a quick recovery. Speaking to the media, he underscored the urgency of modernizing outdated healthcare infrastructure, stating, “Old and dilapidated buildings need urgent replacement. We are committed to building robust infrastructure to meet the growing demands of our state.”
Khandu also acknowledged the challenges in filling specialized medical positions, specifically in anesthesiology, and directed the health department to address the issue, while noting the persistent challenge of attracting specialists to the region.
The Todak Basar District Hospital was built at a cost of ₹12.50 crores for civil works, with an additional ₹3 crores allocated for allied infrastructure. Support from local MLA and the Revised Estimate Fund added ₹4 crores, as reported by Jumi Basar of Agam Construction who managed the project.
Highlighting the tourism potential of the Leparada district, CM Khandu reaffirmed the government’s dedication to harnessing the region’s opportunities while prioritizing essential services like healthcare.
The new hospital is expected to significantly improve medical care in Leparada district, addressing existing gaps in the healthcare system and bringing essential services closer to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. This development underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing both healthcare facilities and the overall quality of life in the region.
