Unveiling the Unsung Heroes: Committee’s Bold Decision to Amplify Impactful Research Work
The Core Committee on Unsung Heroes of Arunachal Pradesh has expanded its research efforts to uncover and document more heroic contributions of the state’s unsung heroes. This initiative, aimed at integrating these findings into educational curricula, was decided during a recent meeting in Itanagar. The committee has called on Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) to expedite the publication of these findings in book format, which will be incorporated into school syllabuses. Additionally, the department of art and culture has been urged to hasten the construction of 13 war memorials across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who chaired the meeting, assured increased funding to ensure the timely completion of these projects. “The memorials will serve as lasting tributes and preserve the legacy of these heroes for future generations,” Mein stated.
The meeting was attended by education minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, various officials, and the RGU research team. In parallel, the Deputy Chief Minister chaired another meeting concerning the upcoming Geographical Indication (GI) Festival, highlighted in the 2024-25 state budget. Scheduled to occur in New Delhi between January and February next year, the festival aims to showcase Arunachal Pradesh’s GI-registered indigenous products, featuring 20 GI-tagged items, including agricultural products, textiles, handicrafts, manufactured goods, and a foodstuff item.
A high-level committee will oversee this festival, chaired by education and tourism minister Sona, with GI Man of India and Padma Shree recipient Dr. Rajanikant, and secretary to Chief Minister Sadhana Deori as advisors. Director SHRD Egam Basar will serve as the member secretary. These initiatives underscore the government’s dedication to promoting Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions, while also honouring its history and showcasing the state’s contributions to the rest of India.
