Supreme Court’s Bold Move: Empowering Delhi with Stricter Entry Point Checks to Enforce Life-Saving Truck Ban
A layer of smog lingered over the capital as the Supreme Court resumed its hearing regarding curbing air pollution in Delhi-NCR on Friday. Strict anti-pollution measures, such as banning truck entry and halting construction and demolition, remain enforced. The Court stated it would review the continuation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) IV measures on Monday. GRAP IV represents the most stringent set of emergency pollution control actions, as enacted by the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR. Previously, on November 18, the Court ordered that GRAP IV restrictions could not be eased without its approval. Expressing dissatisfaction with the enforcement of the truck ban, the Supreme Court appointed 13 court commissioners to inspect compliance at Delhi’s entry points.
