Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma conducted an inspection of several key urban development projects in the New Shillong Township on Wednesday. These projects include the second phase of the IT Park, a 400-seater Working Women’s Hostel, the New Secretariat, a Skill Park, and the Prime Innovation Hub. Additionally, he reviewed the progress of a new four-lane road construction and a proposal to expand an existing two-lane road into a four-lane one, featuring dedicated cycling tracks, utility ducts, footpaths, green spaces, and other amenities.
During his visit, the Chief Minister emphasized that all buildings in the New Shillong Township are being designed as modern and futuristic structures. “Our vision is to transform this zone and the administrative area into a modern city that caters to governance needs for the next 50 years,” Sangma stated. This initiative is part of a broader effort to position New Shillong as a forward-looking urban hub that meets the future demands of its residents and administrative functions.
