Major Triumph: Tripura GRP Courageously Dismantles Drug Racket with Four Arrests at Agartala Station
In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Tripura’s Government Railway Police (GRP) have dismantled a major drug operation, arresting four individuals at Agartala Railway Station. During two separate raids, officers seized substantial amounts of contraband, including 4.15 kg of cannabis and 200 bottles of banned cough syrup, with a combined street value exceeding Rs 128,000.
Tapas Das, the GRP’s Station Officer-in-Charge, confirmed the arrests and stated that legal proceedings are underway. “We have registered cases against all four suspects and have forwarded them to court, requesting judicial custody,” Das announced.
The first raid focused on three individuals—Puja Devi, Reshmi Kumari, and Palvesh Kumar Singh—who are suspected to be habitual offenders involved in transporting cannabis from Tripura to Bihar. Authorities confiscated 4.15 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth Rs 48,000.
In a simultaneous operation, law enforcement apprehended Sani Kumar, who was intercepted with 200 bottles of prohibited Eskuf cough syrup valued at around Rs 80,000.
The GRP’s actions mark a significant intervention in a rising trend of Bihar-based individuals increasingly playing roles in regional narcotics smuggling. Investigators suspect the involvement of a larger, organized trafficking network.
Efforts to further disrupt potential drug distribution channels continue, as authorities aim to stem the flow of illegal narcotics within the region and curtail future trafficking activities. The GRP’s proactive measures highlight the growing challenges in combating drug trade across state lines, underscoring the necessity for vigilant law enforcement operations to safeguard communities from drug-related concerns.
