Revolutionize Your Workspace: Discover the Exciting Power of Microsoft’s Windows 365 Link for Seamless Cloud Desktops
Microsoft is venturing into a new hardware category with the introduction of the Windows 365 Cloud Link, a PC system engineered to streamline corporate workers’ connectivity to cloud-based programs and files. Unveiled on May 20, 2024, at Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington campus, the device is currently available for limited use in the U.S., Canada, and select countries. Priced at $349, it will hit markets in April.
The lightweight device, less than a pound and equipped with an Intel chip, 8GB RAM, and 64GB storage, offers a secure and straightforward experience running on Windows CPC, a stripped-down operating system. It ensures security with a strict application control policy and automatic nightly updates, while supporting dual 4K monitors. Initially tested in call centers and hot-desking environments, the Cloud Link is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing workspaces.
This release marks another attempt by Microsoft to penetrate the established PC hardware space following the Surface line’s struggle to become a top seller. It follows the success of Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop, which together surpassed $1 billion in revenue in the 2024 fiscal year, underscoring the continued rise in demand for virtual desktop solutions post-pandemic. While competitors like Dell and HP offer thin client PCs, Microsoft’s new offering provides a “nice alternative,” according to Melissa Grant, a senior Microsoft product marketer.
