Delhi Minister Urgently Proposes Bold Cloud Seeding Solution to Combat Severe Air Pollution Crisis
NEW DELHI: In a bid to tackle the worsening air quality in the capital, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai has reached out to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav for an urgent meeting. Rai is pushing for discussions on the potential use of cloud seeding to combat the city’s escalating air pollution issues. This move comes in response to Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surpassing the alarming 450 mark, falling into the “severe plus” category despite stringent measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-IV).
Rai expressed grave concern over the deteriorating air conditions in a letter emphasizing that despite the Delhi government’s proactive implementation of its Winter Action Plan on September 25, traditional pollution control strategies may no longer be sufficient. “The air quality in Delhi has reached hazardous levels,” Rai noted, stressing the urgent need to consider alternative methods like cloud seeding to provide immediate relief to residents.
As the city grapples with this environmental crisis, Rai’s proposal highlights the need for innovative solutions and collaborative efforts between state and central government bodies to effectively address the urgent challenge of air pollution in the capital.
