In Kohima on November 18, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Minister of State for Home Affairs for the Government of India, conducted a critical review meeting regarding centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) in Nagaland. This meeting, held at the Secretariat Conference Hall, included participation from senior officials and representatives of various departments. The focus was on evaluating the progress and addressing challenges related to the implementation of these schemes throughout the state.

Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam welcomed the Minister and all attendees, emphasizing the importance of the review in assessing the programs executed with central assistance. He highlighted discussions on numerous flagship initiatives, exploration schemes, and progress in aspirational blocks, along with ongoing infrastructure developments like four-lane highways and enhanced railway connectivity, all significantly backed by the central government.

During his two-day visit, Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar reassured the attendees that the challenges and suggestions identified would be communicated to the Central Ministry for appropriate action. Home Commissioner Vyasan R, who led the meeting, recognized Nagaland’s unique challenges and expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions. The meeting featured presentations from representatives of Kiphire, Zunheboto, and Noklak, who provided insights into the progress and issues faced in Aspirational Districts and Blocks.

The Agriculture Department reported on the National Oil Palm Mission’s progress, initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Meanwhile, the Planning Department offered updates on the status of centrally sponsored schemes planned for 2024-25. Representatives from departments implementing CSS and aspirational districts also shared experiences and obstacles encountered during execution. The Minister commended their efforts and reiterated the central government’s dedication to supporting Nagaland’s developmental initiatives.

This meeting underscored a collaborative approach, aligning state and central government objectives to advance Nagaland’s growth and address its unique challenges through effective implementation of these schemes.
