Unlock Your Journalistic Potential: Transformative Orientation Programme in Vibrant Coimbatore
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) in Chennai, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, held an orientation program for journalists and stakeholders in Coimbatore on Monday. A significant focal point was the release of a new handbook for journalists. V. Palanichamy, Director General (in-charge) of PIB South Zone, emphasized the importance of public awareness around cyber crimes and the critical role of fact-checking in ensuring journalistic integrity. M. Rajkumar, Protector of Emigrants for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, discussed the Ministry of External Affairs’ initiatives to combat illegal job recruitments abroad. P.A. Arun, an inspector with the Coimbatore city cybercrime station, detailed various cyber crime types and highlighted the necessity of cyber safety education. P. Sivakumar, Vice-President of StartupTN, shared activities underway to boost startup growth in the state. Additionally, P. Arun Kumar, Joint Director of PIB Chennai, reiterated the importance of fact-checking and identifying fake news. The event also featured remarks from D. Suresh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore city, and S. R. Chandrasekharan, Technical Assistant of the Central Bureau of Communication in Coimbatore.
