Urgent Alert: GRAP Stage-4 Enacted in Delhi-NCR from Nov 18 Amidst Alarming Air Quality Crisis
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR has plummeted to a severe category, prompting authorities to implement stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) starting at 8 AM tomorrow. This measure includes a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles from other states into Delhi, with exceptions for those transporting essential goods and services. Additionally, vehicles powered by CNG, electricity, and those conforming to BS-VI diesel standards will be permitted entry.
The decision was confirmed following a meeting by the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Regions and Adjoining Areas (CAQM). Recent data reported by our correspondent indicates that Delhi’s AQI hit a perilous 452 at 6 PM this evening. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has also noted that numerous parts of the city have recorded AQI levels surpassing 450, indicating hazardous pollution levels.
These emergency measures aim to curb the alarming pollution levels and ensure public health safety amidst worsening air quality conditions in the region.
