Shocking Arrest: Bold Impostors Caught Scamming as Ticket Checkers on Dimapur-Agartala Train
Two individuals impersonating Traveling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) were apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for conducting unauthorized ticket checks on trains operating along the Dimapur-Agartala route, which connects Nagaland and Tripura. According to an India Today report, the suspects, Hussain Ali and Kaushik Sarkar, were detained on Thursday following suspicious activities on passenger trains in the area.
Hussain Ali was found checking tickets on the 05676 Dimapur-Agartala passenger train. His mannerisms aroused suspicion among RPF officials Ajit Kumar Sarkar and Anjan Paul, who were on duty escorting the train. Upon confronting Hussain, the officers requested his identity card and an authority letter. Initially, Hussain claimed to be a newly-appointed TTE, but soon after, he admitted to lacking authorization documents, revealing his deception. Upon further verification by Dimapur’s ticket-checking officer, Hussain’s impersonation was confirmed, leading to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment.
Similarly, Kaushik Sarkar was found checking tickets on the 05675 passenger train on the same route. Senior TTE Subrajit Paul noticed his unusual working style and became suspicious. When questioned, Sarkar claimed to have secured a position with the railways but failed to provide an identity card or authority letter. Paul detained Sarkar and transferred him to the Government Railway Police (GRP), who filed a formal case and arrested him.
The arrests highlight the vigilance of railway officials and underscore the importance of stringent identity verification processes for ticket examiners. The incident serves as a reminder of the necessity for passengers to remain alert and report any suspicious behavior to ensure their safety and the integrity of railway operations.
