Shocking Engineering Seat Blocking Scam Unveiled: FIR Targets Culprit IP Addresses!
The Malleshwaram police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) following a complaint from the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) regarding alleged seat-blocking schemes during the engineering admissions process. The FIR targets specific Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, which were implicated in multiple option entries and registrations and are suspected of identity theft and dishonest receipt of computer resources under the IT Act.
The case alleges violations under sections of the BNS concerning criminal breach of trust and cheating. This investigation was initiated after suspicions arose when over 2,625 government quota seats in top colleges—such as BMS Engineering College, Akash Institute of Engineering & Technology, and New Horizon College of Engineering—were left unoccupied, eventually reverting to a management quota carrying higher fees. An internal KEA probe uncovered recurring involvement of the same IPs in the previous year’s admissions process, indicating possible manipulation to secure unjust advantages for certain candidates.
The FIR alleges that some college managements fill government quota seats with lower-ranking candidates during the final seat allocation round by colluding with candidates who do not plan to join. The KEA has urged police to investigate the IPs’ locations and pursue action against these intermediaries to maintain the integrity of the admission process.
