Experience the Exquisite Transformation: Arunachal’s Beloved Rice Wine Gets a Captivating Modern Makeover!
In a landmark celebration of indigenous entrepreneurship and cultural heritage, Arunachal Pradesh made significant strides with the launch of traditional Adi Apong rice wine in Pasighat. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein introduced two distinctive varieties: Pijin Apong, crafted from the locally cherished black rice Amkel, and Poro Apong, a fermented blend of rice and paddy husk ashes.
This initiative, spearheaded by Siang Beverage Pvt. Ltd., highlights the state’s rich cultural tapestry and burgeoning potential for local products. Oter Ering Tayeng, the visionary behind the venture, expressed pride in preserving the Adi community’s tradition of Apong. She emphasized its dual appeal of flavor and nutritional value, while aiming to provide employment opportunities for local brewers and youth.
Deputy Chief Minister Mein praised Tayeng for presenting such an authentic product, underscoring the role of traditional rice wine in cultural representation. He also announced future plans to promote Arunachal Pradesh’s diverse Geographical Indication (GI) products through a national festival, further elevating the state’s uniqueness on a broader platform. This initiative not only celebrates cultural continuity but also promises economic benefits for the community.
