Exciting Launch: KSRTC Unveils Luxurious Ashwamedha AC Buses to Revolutionize Travel Around Bengaluru
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is addressing commuter discomfort with new Ashwamedha buses aiming to better connect Bengaluru with surrounding towns. Launched on February 5, 2024, the original fleet of 750 buses has provided ordinary point-to-point services, yet remains overcrowded, leaving passengers like Santhosh Kumar and Sahana M. frustrated with their daily commutes from towns such as Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Kolar. To alleviate these challenges, KSRTC plans to introduce premium Ashwamedha AC buses tailored for commuters within a 100-km radius of Bengaluru.
These smaller, air-conditioned buses will feature modern amenities, including comfortable seating and charging ports, at slightly higher fares. KSRTC Managing Director V. Anbu Kumar emphasized the need for dependable and comfortable travel for Bengaluru-bound office-goers, citing strong demand as a motivator. A feasibility study will soon determine routes, service frequency, and fare structures, ensuring optimal service by assessing passenger demand and peak travel times. This initiative promises a much-needed upgrade in commuter comfort, potentially transforming daily travel for thousands.
