Batting at No. 6 for India A, Jurel scored a resilient 80 runs off 186 balls, featuring six boundaries and two sixes. This impressive performance was instrumental in helping the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India A recover from a precarious 11 for 4 to post a total of 161 in their first innings.
Jurel’s return to form comes ahead of India’s first official Test match against Australia on November 22, as Indian captain Rohit Sharma is reportedly set to miss the series opener due to personal reasons. Jurel, who made his Test debut against West Indies in February 2024, hasn’t featured in the starting XI since the return of Rishabh Pant. However, his recent showing against Australia A highlights his potential value to the team, not just as a wicketkeeper but as a specialist batter.
The 22-year-old’s standout innings demonstrate his capability under pressure, enhancing his reputation after Rajasthan Royals retained him for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025.
