Join the Inspiring Run for Unity: Thousands Unite in Kangpokpi for Manipur’s Epic 7K Rally
Oasis College Kangpokpi, in partnership with the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills and supported by the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), organized a significant “Run for Unity” marathon to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, highlighting community solidarity and spirit. The 7K race drew over 500 young participants from the Kangpokpi district, all championing peace, unity, and national integration.
The marathon commenced at Keithelmanbi Military Colony and concluded at the Kangpokpi District Headquarters. Thangmang Chongloi, Vice President of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (Youth Affairs), officially flagged off the event, invigorating a sense of camaraderie and unity among the participants. Community leaders and local residents joined the event with enthusiastic support, demonstrating broad communal backing for the initiative.
Dr. Thathang Vaiphei, Chairman of Oasis College Kangpokpi’s Board of Management, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the marathon’s role in fostering resilience and unity amidst adversities. “This event is more than just a physical challenge—it symbolizes our steadfast dedication to harmony and peace,” stated Dr. Vaiphei, urging the youth to champion integrity and peaceful coexistence while shunning the dangers of drug abuse.
The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates, with Lalkhomang Kipgen and Nengnunnum Chongloi securing the top spots in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively, each receiving Rs. 5000. Second and third place in the boys’ category went to Lengoumang Kipgen and Mangkhanlen Kipgen, while Lhingboikim Khongsai and Hatneivah Lhouvum were recognized in the girls’ division. The top 20 runners received acknowledgment and certificates for their efforts.
The event concluded with a heartfelt prayer by Rev. Janggin Chongloi, Secretary of the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship, who prayed for ongoing peace, strength, and unity within the community.
