Heartfelt Tribute: RHAC Celebrates Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s Enduring Legacy with Inspiring Community Support in Boko
The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) commemorated the 13th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, an iconic musician and cultural figure, at a ceremony held at the Tourism House in Boko. The event featured RHAC Executive Member Sumit Rabha and local residents paying tribute to Hazarika by offering flowers and lighting lamps at his portrait, honoring his significant contributions to Assam’s cultural heritage.
In conjunction with the memorial, Sumit Rabha launched a community upliftment initiative, distributing essential items to 1,100 beneficiaries. Funded through the RHAC’s 2023-24 budget, distributed goods included blankets, yarn, hand pumps, roofing sheets, bicycles for disadvantaged students, spray machines for farmers, and sports equipment such as footballs, volleyballs, and nets for local clubs. This initiative underscores the council’s commitment to enhancing community welfare.
Rabha emphasized the council’s dedication, stating, “We are utilizing the RHAC fund for 2023-24 to provide necessary support and improve quality of life in our constituency.” He highlighted the completion of over 120 development projects within the Boko constituency, including financial aid for villagers with complex illnesses and support for local athletes and artists, under the leadership of RHAC Chief Tankeswar Rabha.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, reflecting the community’s unity and dedication to the principles championed by Dr. Hazarika, including compassion and social justice. Notable attendees included Sujit Rabha, President of the Boko All Rabha Students Union (ARSU), and Nagen Kalita, Principal of Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. This commemoration not only honored Dr. Hazarika’s memory but also reinforced RHAC’s ongoing commitment to the betterment of Boko’s residents.
