Shillong, Nov 4: Monday’s action in the Meghalaya State League 2024 saw Mawlai SC and Ladthadlaboh SC punch their tickets to the tournament’s quarterfinals with decisive victories after their group stage matches. In a dazzling display, Mawlai steamrolled Patharkhmah 10-0 in Group F, held in Shillong. Despite fielding a younger lineup, Samlang Rympei achieved a hat-trick with goals in the 45th, 46th, 50th, and 84th minutes, while Balviky Marngar, Arkibor Makhroh, Romarius Laban, Mewanshan S Nongkseh, and Mark Gareth D Shabong also got on the scoresheet. This victory propelled Mawlai to the top of the group standings with a full nine points from three matches.
Meanwhile, Ladthadlaboh delivered a one-sided performance against Seven United in Group C, securing a 3-0 triumph in Tyrsad. Goals from Sanki Langstang, Banteilang Shylla, and Lammida-o Dkhar helped them maintain a perfect record and accumulate nine points.
In Group B action from Mawkyrwat, Khliehmawlieh edged out Sutnga 1-0 thanks to Wallambok Shangpliang’s late goal, leaving both teams with six points and potential company in Mawten, who face Riangdo Youth next.
Over in Tura, Lumsohkhlur took a provisional lead in Group A after a 2-0 win against Attong Matgrik that was aided by an own goal and Jestibor Mawlong’s early strike. However, the real group standings will be decided after Chipakkore faces Pinggera Do·gisik on Wednesday.
Rangdajied United dominated proceedings in Group D at Khliehriat, routing Iatyllilang Lumsehkot Raliang 8-0. They accumulated seven points and will await the outcome of the Rymbai Skhenshynriah vs. Mulait United match to determine group leaders.
Finally, in a dead rubber match, 7 Wasa United beat Seinbhalang Shkentalang 2-0 in Group E, with goals from Jeff K Rymbai and Bannangsan Dkhar.
