Devastating Decline: Alarming Deterioration of Air Quality in Delhi-NCR
The air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to worsen, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 373 this morning, categorizing it as very poor. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), some areas have even crossed into severe levels, exceeding an AQI of 400. Notably, Anand Vihar recorded an alarming AQI of 433, while Rohini came in at 409, Punjabi Bagh at 404, and R K Puram at 393. Additionally, Bawana station reported an AQI of 408.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that Delhi and its surrounding regions will experience smog and shallow fog during the night and morning hours over the next 2-3 days. It’s worth noting that the AQI categories range from good (0-50) to severe (401-450). The current levels underscore a pressing environmental and public health concern for the region.
