Imna Along Triumphantly Ensures ENPO’s Enthusiastic Participation at Hornbill Festival | MorungExpress
At the two-day Chaga Gadi cum Mini Hornbill Festival held in Nzau village, Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, were in attendance. Minister Along expressed optimism that cultural troupes from the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) will once again participate in the upcoming Hornbill Festival, following their involvement last year. Speaking at Dimapur Government College, he noted that despite existing tribal issues, the government is committed to fostering unity in Nagaland, assuring that the ENPO will likely join the festival this year.
Minister Along also addressed the matter of financial autonomy for the ENPO, highlighting that the Nagaland state government has reached agreements to support the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) while maintaining its integral part within the state. He emphasized the continuing discussions between the Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU), ENPO, and the State Cabinet to resolve various concerns, aiming to balance the interests of both Nagaland and the FNT. As the 25th anniversary of the Hornbill Festival approaches, preparations at the Kisama Heritage Village are reportedly progressing well. To alleviate traffic issues, the Minister urged the public to use shared or public transport, noting plans to limit VVIP convoys to ease congestion, emphasizing that traffic management is a shared responsibility.
In education developments, Minister Along announced that a Science stream will commence at Dimapur Government College in the next academic year, enhancing its status as a multi-disciplinary institution. All necessary approvals have been secured, and recruitment processes are underway. Regarding the reconstruction of the collapsed boundary wall, funds have been allocated, with work expected to start by the end of November. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve educational facilities and infrastructure in Nagaland, aligning with the broader goals of cultural and regional development.
