Shocking Discovery: Two Rohingya Refugees Captured in Gomati Campsite Bust
BSF Tripura Apprehends Rohingya Nationals and Seizes Narcotics
In a decisive operation along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura apprehended two Rohingya nationals and seized narcotics valued at Rs 4 lakh. Based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of illegal migrants in the Karbook area, the BSF initiated the operation that led to this significant development.
The two individuals, initially tracked by the BSF team due to suspicious activities, were identified as illegal migrants. Subsequent verification confirmed them as Rohingya migrants who were intercepted at the Karbook bus stand in Gomati District while allegedly planning an attempt to cross back into Bangladesh. Both migrants were confirmed to be from a Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
The operation yielded the recovery of Indian currency, mobile phones, and UNHCR cards from the detainees, indicating their status and travel intentions. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to manage cross-border activities and ensure regional safety.
In related operations, BSF Tripura successfully thwarted several trans-border smuggling attempts, resulting in the confiscation of 1,600 kg of sugar and other contraband items, amounting to a total worth of Rs 4,76,479. These efforts highlight the vigilance and proactive measures taken by the BSF to curb unlawful activities along the border, reflecting its commitment to regional security and control of illicit cross-border trade.
The simultaneous operations not only underline the BSF’s critical role in border security but also its consistent strides in curtailing illegal immigration and smuggling activities, safeguarding the area against potential security threats.
