Heartfelt Honors: 463 Brave Personnel Awarded the Prestigious Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak for Exceptional Service
The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak, an esteemed award recognizing exemplary service among police and security personnel, has been conferred upon 463 individuals from various states, Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces, and Central Police Organizations for 2024. This accolade honors significant achievements in special operations, investigations, intelligence, and forensic science, promoting high professional standards and boosting the morale of recipients.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, this medal aims to inspire and motivate police personnel nationwide. The Ministry of Home Affairs officially instituted the award on February 1, 2024. It acknowledges not only police forces but also intelligence units and forensic scientists for their excellence in critical operations and investigative work.
This initiative integrates several former awards, notably the Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal and the Medal for Excellence in Investigation, into what is now known as the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak. These changes adapt to evolving security challenges, ensuring a comprehensive recognition system.
Announced every year on October 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the award underscores the government’s commitment to honoring the dedication and hard work of those in essential national security roles. It reflects a desire to uphold and elevate India’s security apparatus through acknowledging individual contributions to operational and investigative excellence.
