Thrilling Triumph: Assam Shuttler Bedagni Clinches Victory at National U13 Sub-Junior Championship
The All India Sub-Junior (Under-13) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2024 concluded on Wednesday in Dibrugarh, Assam, with thrilling finals that highlighted the outstanding skills of young badminton players from across India.
In a remarkable display of talent, Assam’s own Bedagni Gogoi emerged victorious in the girls’ singles category, decisively defeating Uttarakhand’s Avni Makhloga with scores of 21-16 and 21-19. Meanwhile, in the boys’ singles final, Satvik Agrawal from Rajasthan claimed the title after an intense match against Assam’s Anikesh Dutta, ending with scores of 24-22 and 21-19 in Agrawal’s favor.
The boys’ doubles event saw a gripping contest as Assam’s Harshit Gogoi and Raihan Zaman triumphed over Uttarakhand’s Aashray Agarwal and Haryana’s Jayesh Duggal, winning both sets 21-19. Karnataka’s Hamsa Muralidhara and Mahitha Surisetty seized victory in the girls’ doubles, defeating Nagaland’s Kimkim Khongsai and Telangana’s Anya Proddatur with scores of 21-11 and 21-19.
The tournament, hosted from October 25 to 30, was organized by the Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA) under the auspices of the Assam Badminton Association (ABA) and the Badminton Association of India (BAI). The competition brought together a total of 354 young athletes from all corners of India, underscoring the vast pool of emerging talent in the nation’s badminton scene.
This prestigious event provided an excellent platform for young shuttlers to showcase their abilities, and the spirited competition left a lasting impression on spectators and participants alike.
