Breaking News: Uncontested Victory for SKM as SDF’s Surprise Withdrawal Shakes Up Sikkim By-Poll!
Prem Bhandari, representing the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), has officially withdrawn his nomination for the Soreng-Chakung constituency in the upcoming by-election. This development was announced today in Soreng and effectively leaves Aditya Golay of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) as the uncontested candidate in the by-poll.
In a separate race, SKM candidate Satish Chandra Rai is focusing on transforming Namchi city into a top-tier tourist destination ahead of the by-elections scheduled for November 13. After filing his nomination on October 28, Rai conveyed appreciation for the support from his party and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. He committed to prioritizing transparency and effective governance and highlighted plans to enhance Namchi’s infrastructure and tourism appeal.
Rai remains confident about his victory, citing strong public backing. “People have already shown me their support, and I am sure that I will win this election,” he remarked. Rai intends to launch his campaign activities after Diwali, starting on November 4. He plans to hold extensive public meetings and address community issues collectively.
Despite facing opposition candidates, Rai is determined to press forward in collaboration with the public. Demonstrating confidence in Sikkim’s current political leadership, he reassured citizens that their aspirations for progress align with the government’s direction under Chief Minister Tamang.
In other election news, the CAP candidate for Namchi-Singithang has raised concerns over alleged foul play following the rejection of their nomination, indicating potential controversies in the electoral process.
As the elections draw closer, the political landscape in Sikkim is poised for significant developments, with candidates outlining visions for growth and progress in their respective regions.
