The action was prompted by reports of speeding and overloaded vehicles on National Highway 127 (A) and surrounding rural roads, posing significant dangers to public safety. The issue is compounded by overloaded Bhutan-registered vehicles on the Indo-Bhutan route, which have contributed to road deterioration. Responding to community complaints, Bajali’s transport department initiated a targeted operation, confiscating several dumpers, school buses, and motorcycles found in violation of traffic laws. A specific dumper, heavily loaded and bearing a Bhutan registration, was stopped while transporting bricks from Assam’s Saderi to Bhutan’s Namlang.
