Shocking Bomb Threat for Bengaluru-Ayodhya Akasa Flight Amidst Unprecedented 350 Alerts Across 50 Airlines in 14 Days!
Hoax Bomb Threats Disrupt Indian Aviation Sector
On Sunday, at least 50 flights operated by Indian airlines were subjected to bomb threats, causing heightened security measures at multiple airports across the nation. This alarming trend has sparked serious concerns regarding aviation safety.
Among the incidents, a notable threat targeted an Akasa Airlines flight from Bengaluru, carrying 173 passengers. The aircraft landed safely amid stringent safety protocols at Maharishi Valmiki Airport. Director Vinod Kumar confirmed that comprehensive inspections revealed nothing suspicious, with passengers cooperating fully.
In the past two weeks, over 350 flights from Indian carriers have been reported as targets of hoax bomb threats, predominantly originating from social media platforms. Akasa Air experienced alerts for 15 of its flights on the day, but all were cleared after thorough checks. Similarly, IndiGo received alerts for 18 flights, and Vistara faced threats for 17 flights.
In response to the growing number of hoax threats, the IT Ministry has instructed social media platforms to fulfill their due diligence obligations, mandating the removal or disabling of misinformation promptly as prescribed under IT rules. Additionally, the civil aviation ministry is evaluating legislative actions to combat this increasing issue, aiming to bolster safety protocols and deter such disruptive behavior.
As authorities continue to address these threats, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew remains the top priority for Indian aviation.
