Indian Army Triumphantly Uncovers and Dismantles Pakistani Terror Hideout in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir
The Indian Army’s Romeo Force, in partnership with the Special Operations Group (SOG) police, has successfully dismantled a terror hideout linked to Pakistan in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. This operation, which led to the recovery of two grenades and three Pakistani mines, underscores the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region.
This decisive action comes amid a spate of recent terrorist attacks that have heightened security concerns. On October 24, a terrorist assault on an army vehicle resulted in the deaths of two army soldiers and two civilian porters. Just days earlier, on October 20, another attack claimed the lives of a doctor and six construction workers at a tunnel site along the Srinagar-Leh national highway. These incidents have galvanized military and police forces to intensify their efforts in dismantling terror networks.
In response to the escalating violence, authorities have ramped up search operations, focusing particularly on the Tangmarg area and nearby regions. The Indian Army’s current initiatives are aimed at apprehending suspects involved in the recent terror activities in locations such as Gulmarg, Baramulla, and Gagangir in the Ganderbal district.
Further efforts to combat terrorism include raids conducted by the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit across six districts, including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Anantnag, Budgam, and Kulgam. During these operations, authorities dismantled a recruitment module for a new terror group, “Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim” (TLM), believed to be an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). This module was reportedly operated by a Pakistani terrorist handler known as Baba Hamas.
In response to these mounting threats, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has called for heightened security measures around critical infrastructure and military installations. An exhaustive security audit is underway, with initiatives including regular patrols and the establishment of checkpoints at strategic locations to bolster safety across the region.
