Emotional Drama Unfolds: Sachdeva’s Controversial Yamuna Dip Sparks AAP Outrage
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva took a dip in the Yamuna River near ITO, New Delhi, on Thursday as an act of protest, accusing the city’s government of corruption that he claims has hindered the river’s cleanup efforts. The BJP set up a stage with chairs for Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal to emphasize their unfulfilled promise to reduce river pollution. This political stunt follows the BJP’s challenge to Atishi to swim in the Yamuna amidst pollution allegations, which the ruling Aam Aadmi Party dismissed as theatrics. The controversy erupted after toxic froth surfaced in the Yamuna ahead of the Chhath Puja, causing a rift between the BJP and AAP, with accusations against neighboring states for the pollution. Sachdeva asserts the Delhi government has received ₹8,500 crore from the Centre for cleanup, yet failed in its duties. BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor joined in criticizing the government, stating they await Kejriwal and Atishi’s response to the river’s state.
