In a series of coordinated efforts, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police, alongside other security forces, successfully recovered a significant cache of weapons and warlike stores across various districts in Manipur. The operations spanned the hill and valley regions of Churachandpur, Chandel, and Thoubal, demonstrating a robust security strategy to curb illegal arms activity in the area.
An intelligence-driven operation was carried out on October 22, 2024, in the Thoroilok area of Churachandpur district by the Indian Army, with support from the Manipur Police and CRPF. This mission resulted in the seizure of crucial items including two locally-made mortars, a pistol, grenades, explosives, and other warlike stores. Simultaneously, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police executed another operation in the vicinity of Lamzang village, leading to the recovery of a .303 rifle, a single-barrel rifle, ammunition, and related stores.
In Chandel district, a tactical combing operation by Assam Rifles between Songkhom and Gunjil villages unveiled more illegal arms, comprising an automatic weapon, mortars, a single-barrel gun, ammunition, and other warlike materials.
Continuing the momentum, on October 23, 2024, a joint search operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in the Kwarok Maring village area of Thoubal district discovered a cache that featured a 9mm country-made pistol, a single-barrel breech-loading gun, grenades, and other war-related items. All recovered materials have since been handed over to Manipur Police for further action.
