Stunning Breakthrough: Police Swiftly Arrest Suspect and Recover Over Rs 3 Lakh in Daring Manipur Bank Robbery
In a significant breakthrough, Manipur police apprehended a suspect on Wednesday for allegedly robbing over Rs 6 lakh from a nationalized bank in Kakching district a week prior. The arrest was confirmed by Haobijam Jogeshchandra, DIG (Range 2), during a press briefing.
The Special Investigation Team, assigned to the case, successfully recovered over Rs 3 lakh from the possession of the accused. The robbery, which occurred on October 16, involved a masked assailant who forced an unarmed security guard at gunpoint to lead him into the bank. Once inside, the robber secured Rs 6,49,000 by confining all the bank staff within the manager’s office.
The police continue to investigate to retrieve the remaining stolen amount and identify the weapons involved in the heist. Jogeshchandra assured that efforts are ongoing to conclude the case swiftly and regain the public’s sense of security.
