Tragic Bengaluru Rain: Shocking Building Collapse Claims Lives, Many Feared Trapped
An under-construction building in Bengaluru’s Babusapalya area collapsed on Tuesday amid relentless heavy rains, trapping potentially 17 construction workers beneath the debris. Emergency services, including police, fire, and rescue teams, promptly responded, recovering three bodies and rescuing three others. Rescue efforts are ongoing. The incident, reportedly due to ignored safety precautions under adverse weather conditions, led to intervention by state officials, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who actively monitored the situation.
Additionally, heavy rains inundated Kendriya Vihar Apartment, prompting the evacuation of residents, including relatives of the late President Abdul Kalam. Residents, including an 80-year-old woman and her daughter, were relocated as their homes resembled a lake. Meanwhile, tragedy struck again when siblings Srinivas, 13, and Mahalaxmi, 11, drowned in Kengeri Lake. The siblings had visited the lake to fetch water but drowned when Mahalaxmi slipped, and Srinivas’s attempt to rescue her proved fatal.
Authorities continue to work on recovery and relief operations amid these devastating circumstances, seeking to prevent future tragedies amid ongoing weather challenges.
