Manipur CM’s Groundbreaking Talks with Nitin Gadkari Spark Hope for Transformative Highway Projects
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh recently engaged in discussions with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, focusing on accelerating highway projects within the state. During the Review Meeting of National Highway Projects in the Northeast, Singh highlighted the need to address challenges and speed up the progress of ongoing initiatives. He mentioned that new projects would soon be launched to further boost infrastructure development across the region.
In a related development, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jiribam issued an eviction directive for all structures within the Right of Way along National Highway 37. This move follows an order from the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, who mandated land clearance to facilitate the highway’s development. Previous public notices, dated May 13, 2024, and October 14, 2024, had informed landowners of the impending land acquisition for highway expansion. The notices asked affected individuals to hand over the acquired properties to the Deputy Commissioner or the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for further action.
These efforts underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and infrastructure across Manipur, promising not only improved transportation routes but also the potential for economic development throughout the region.
