Tragic Incident in Silchar: Police Constable Tragically Ends Life with Service Weapon
A tragic incident occurred in Silchar, Assam, where a 51-year-old police constable, Ishwar Singha, reportedly ended his life using his service weapon. Singha, who hailed from Katakuama village in Cachar district, was found dead in the restroom of the Circuit House where he was stationed. He had just finished his sentry duty before the incident unfolded.
Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, confirmed the details of the incident. In response to the discovery, senior officers promptly dispatched a team to the scene. Singha was urgently transported to Silchar Medical College & Hospital, but medical personnel were unable to revive him.
In the wake of the incident, authorities have initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to Singha’s death. The firearm and spent cartridge involved in the incident have been collected as evidence, and Singha’s restroom has been sealed for a thorough examination.
Superintendent Mahatta assured that all necessary legal protocols are being adhered to in the investigation. He further noted that Singha’s family has been informed and is on their way to Silchar.
