Relentless Rains Return: Bengaluru Faces Flood Woes Again After Brief Respite
Despite a brief lull from the torrential rain earlier in the week, Bengaluru experienced another bout of heavy showers on Saturday, severely disrupting traffic and causing flooding in several areas. Commuters faced significant delays, with some reporting travel times extending to three hours due to inundated roads, particularly near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and in south Bengaluru.
The Indian Meteorological Department recorded 17.4 mm of rainfall in Bengaluru and 12 mm at HAL by the evening and predicted more rain and thunderstorms on Sunday. The Sri Sai Layout, previously affected by flooding, saw water levels rise again, raising concerns among residents about potential inundation of homes.
Authorities, including the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and disaster management teams, remain on high alert and have been mobilized to respond to any flood-related emergencies. As the city grapples with the impact of the rainfall, residents and commuters alike are urged to exercise caution and patience amid the ongoing weather challenges.
